We started fresh to create a pedal that raised the bar. First up was entry and release, something that is important to all riders. We re-designed the rear cam shape, and made it out of alloy. Now, all you need to do is slide your foot in, pedal and click in automatically! Plus, our new EZ Action pedals were developed so lighter riders can get in and out with almost no effort, but still have full performance, and they are available now!
Next, we wanted a huge platform for power and comfort. Sampson pedals have always provided a big foot platform, and these really deliver with a huge 62 mm wide platform! This is much bigger than most pedals-and a full 7 mm more than a Keo Max for power and comfort! Durability is essential for racing and just enjoying your riding, and is why the Stratics feature a polished steel AntiFrictionPlate (AFP) an alloy rear cam, and steel springs! The bearing system is fully sealed, and we use 3 silky smooth cartridge bearings, not bushings, to give you those extra few watts!
Want a couple more reasons the Stratics rock? It is actually the fact they don't rock! The Stratics give you a rock-solid base under your foot, and we also have made sure that the cleats offer a really big range of adjustment both fore-aft and side to side for exceptional bio-mechanics. Which is another way of saying they are faster too! We supply both fixed and float cleats with co-molded walking surfaces with the pedals along with bolts and even long bolts for shoes with deep set holes!
Now, the amazing part: they are wicked light! Really! Even with all their extra size, alloy bodies and sealed bearings, the s5 is just 129 g. a pedal, the s6 is just 107 g. each, some of the lighest pedals on the market!
